Most of us are coming off of a long weekend, back to the workload, the daily grind of life. Monday was the Memorial Day holiday, a day off work, a beach, and barbecue day for many of us. A day spent with family and friends. America as a country reserves the day to honor the fallen soldiers of the US military who gave their lives fighting for the freedom of our country—the ultimate sacrifice.
Ryan and I spent Saturday and Sunday with friends and family. We ate barbecue ribs, beans and watermelon. On Monday we took the boat out for some fishing. The wind was strong which made the seas rough. I don’t do well with the ocean rocking, so in true Amy fashion, I got seasick.

Tricks learned the hard way
When getting motion sickness, I learned it is best to have fresh air. If you are in a vehicle, roll the window down. If you are on a boat, put it in motion and go.
We got out of the wind to calmer waters and I was fine. Just like that the motion sickness goes away.

We found this backwater creek that was an old Florida feel. I love the feeling of an untouched area. I always think about the Indians who lived and explored these areas. The peacefulness to walk along undisturbed. The bountiful fish and wildlife.
Memorial Day spent on the water
There were two accidents in the Florida panhandle area this weekend. Right in the area we were in. Thankfully we missed both and had a safe weekend. We had heard an underwater dive team was leaving from our community boat ramp. I doubted the validity of that. Guess I was wrong, they were there we just missed all the commotion.
Life can be taken from you in the blink of an eye. One minute you are living and on an adventure and the next the underwater dive team is looking for you. I believe you should live life to the fullest and make memories with those you love. But in the same breath, keep yourself safe and be smart when out and about. Especially on the water.
Did you all have a Memorial Day gathering?
