Sometimes you just go with it – because questions just slow things down.

We are all buckling down – again. Didn’t I mention this last week? Another hurricane. And another one, then another one. Yeah, it just seems that I am on repeat.  Similar to a broken record.  But people don’t know what that even means, as most of everyone’s music is streaming. For those of you not old enough to know, sounding like a broken record means I keep repeating myself.  The record skips, it gets hung up on the scratch or the crack in the record. These hurricanes keep coming and similar to a broken record I just keep talking about it. Hurricane Milton is on his way.

It has been, maybe two weeks since the last hurricane came through Florida.  We made it out on the good side of the storm.  We had packed the solar batteries out of the coastal house so they did not get wet.  This plan proved to work out very nicely to our advantage because we could have some power to our primary residence when that was lost due to storm debris on the power lines.

There is always a but to every story I tell.  But, in the event to connect the solar battery system to the house Ryan needed to cut the cord on the dryer to wire something up.  I am not even clear about what was being wired where, but I have learned not to ask questions; sometimes you just go with it.

Going with it (but not Hurricane Milton)

So here we sit with the current rainy weather and another hurricane looming in the distance only to bring more rainy weather and we have no useable dryer. Ryan has checked the stores twice now and they have no dryer cords in stock. Not really a big deal, as I believe I have mentioned before that I am not really a user of the dryer.  I enjoy seeing my laundry on the clothesline.  Pulls at my heartstrings knowing the clothes are drying for free out there in the breeze.

I don’t always like to admit…

Sometimes that dryer comes in clutch. It is like a safety net, knowing it is there if I need to use it. But not now. The cord lays on the floor next to it. The picture above is the dryer cord, on the floor, not connected to the dryer. RIP.

I do imagine if we really needed it we could rewire the old cut cord back to the dryer and be back in the business of clothes drying. And Ryan says we could. But he would feel safer with a new cord. Fair. I will wait and hope for sunny weather for my laundry to dry.

Meanwhile, holding out hope, thinking about and praying for those in the path of Hurricane Milton.  It seems some years Florida can’t catch a break from the tropical weather. I know that Florida sticks out of the United States like a sore thumb and it is about as tropical as the United States can get, so it seems like it is just calling for the hurricanes. Let me promise you we the people of Florida are not looking for trouble. The majority wishes we could put an end to the destruction.
