I am a day late and a dollar short. I like posting on the weekly blog on Tuesday mornings. That did not happen this week. If you are following you know that already. Nevertheless, I am here. I bring Florida weather updates and Amy’s IBS updates. And, I am pretty sure I don’t want to be part of this group, but I am part of the top 10%.
Florida saw a hurricane Monday morning. The general population hates Mondays already, so why not show up with a hurricane? So, there was that. Welcome to Florida, Hurricane Debby. Now go away. Following Debby’s departure on Tuesday I made a three-hour trip to check on some coastal property. Everything was fine there, and I thought it would be but I needed the peace of mind to see it in person. Therefore, late blog.
We were fortunate enough that the hurricane entered Florida to the East or you could say to the right side of our property if you were looking at a map. When that happens the hurricane will pull the water out of our area. It then dumps it to the right side of the hurricane so those people get all the storm surge and flooding.

Water, Water everywhere

From what I saw on social media, there was a lot of water dumped to the south of us. Our primary residence is in the middle of the state so we are not terribly affected by hurricanes. We lost power for 12 hours on Monday (hence, no blog writing) and it is unbelievably wet and swampy. The mosquitos could carry off a small child.
The other day I applied Deet three different times and the mosquitos were still biting through the layers. These things are aggressive.
Unrelated to Florida hurricanes
The Metamucil fiber gummies are still working their magic. Since I have started taking them, I feel so much better. This past week I have had some evening bloating and gas, one night it was debilitating. I went to bed super early hoping it would pass.
There is always the game of what caused the bloat. At one point in my life, I wanted to be a detective. I did not realize that I would have to play detective for most of my adult life trying to determine what had caused the bloat, gas, or diarrhea. Word to the wise, be careful what you wish for.
For the most part, I eat the same things. Not every day but throughout the week the meals consist of the same foods. Things are fine one week, not so good the next. I will never understand this IBS life. Maybe it is my water consumption. That has been a variable lately, I do feel like I have been lacking in my water intake.
I don’t think I want to be in the top 10% this time
I read a blog regarding the impact of IBS on one’s daily life. Not that I need someone else to tell me the impacts it has. Possibly, I just don’t want to feel alone. It said that 10% of survey participants reported going to the bathroom over six times a day for a bowel movement. Wait. What. Only 10% of us are going to the bathroom more than six times a day. I am in that group, the 10%. But I thought there were so many more of us. 10%?
They must have surveyed regular people, not just us IBSers. I have gone to the bathroom at least six times this morning and it’s not even 10:30. I guess I just like to be in the top 10%.
